Mahashivarathri Divine Discourse in Muddenahalli, 19th February 2015.
OM SRI SAIRAM
Today in this holy gathering of Mahashivarathri we have placed 2 white chairs either side of the divine throne. On the left we have Lord Shiva, Shirdi Sai Baba in a white robe, ShivaShakti, Sathya Sai Baba in an orange robe and Shakti, Mother Parvati in a pink sari. We are blessed to have this morning, this divine darshan of the three divinities.
Offering beelopatra leafs to Shiva is very sacred. Its three petals symbolise the three Gunas and
can destroy the sins in three births. Three petals means 3 eyes, into the past, present and future. It also symbolises the three weapons and the three strengths: physical, mental and spiritual. It also symbolises the three Devi: Durga, Lakshmi and Sarasvati. The three spikes of the Trishula can destroy all the sins of the past, present and future.
The beelopatra is only a symbol. We have to understand the inner meaning of this symbol. The three qualities inside of us are tamas, rajas, satva. The entire world is full of them. The universe is
moving due to the balance of these three qualities. Tonight, many of you didn't sleep, because of
tamo guna you cannot avoid sleep. But nothing is bad, everything is divine. Stick beyond the 3 qualities.
They are in you, also the entire cosmos has these 3 qualities.
All night, you did bhajans and you destroyed the tamo guna. All impurities are gone. I was listening to the bhajans all night, bhajans are my food. Through them the divinity becomes strong. But when you don't adore God through bhajans the divinity in you becomes weak. When the world is weak, the divinity becomes strong. And when the world becomes strong, the divinity becomes weak in you. When you use your left hand, your right hand becomes weak. But when you use your right hand your left hand becomes weak. Because of worldly desires the inner divinity becomes weak.
Desire only for Moksha. If you strive for Moksha, all dharma and Moksha will come to you. You must have desires only for dharma, only for liberation. There are 3 very important things. First, to have human birth. Second, desire for liberation. Third, shelter at the feet of a guru. You are very lucky, because today you have all three of them. A merger of the three.
The sage Bharatwajã did penance and Lord Shiva gave to him the vow that He would be born in his generation 3 times as the Lord. First as Shiva (Shirdi Sai Baba), as Shiva Shakti (Sattya Sai Baba) and as Shakti (Prema Sai Baba). The 3 worlds have merged today and the three of them are here now, Whatever is happening at the sutble level manifests in the physical level. The Mandir at Prashanti, first visualised in my mind and afterwards I made it. The architect does the same, first in his mind
and then he builds it. The mother first visualises the food, what she needs to prepare, for example the stove, the milk, all ingredients. She follows a procedure. The night before, she creates the subtle form in the mind. And afterwards in the morning she prepares the food in the physical form. You would feel hunger if someone said the name of a food, but if this food is not manifested physically your stomach would not be full, and your hunger would not be satisfied. God is in a formless form. Those that knew me in a physical form think that God is only this way. They travel from all over the world to find that attribute-less God. The Shiva principle is the formless principle. Shiva, in Kailash, has the form of Atma Lingam. When you pray to Shiva with form, you find the
formless in your heart. In the same way that you find the sun from it's light, you can find God only by his grace. Shakara – Nirakara.
When you develop the spiritual, you can understand the formless. When the three murti-Prema comes, we will not have discourses. Only silence, the language of the heart. No words. I am giving you the practise in order to understand the Prema Sai. In order to understand him you must have silence in your mind, you must remove the noise in order to hear the voice. Everything in this world is noise. When you receive a phone call in the market, you cannot hear due to the noise.What do you do? You go to a quiet place in order to hear. Remove the noise in order to hear the Voice.
If you do this now it will be very useful for us when you are with Prema Sai. They will think that He is not speaking at all, how can you understand him? You need to practise. You have to run if you
want to understand. Prema practise. You must do what Sai is saying to you, but you are hearing
only what you want to hear. You are seeing only what you want to see, and you believe what you want to believe. You have to understand every word of Mine. You have to first listen, then contemplate, then meditate and then experience. This is your homework. To come and go is only a waste of time. You must do these four and it will come. You have to understand. First is the ABC, words, then sentences and then you have the Story. Without fingers you cannot do addition and subtraction. How can you do your work? Practise properly everything I told you today. You say I will do it some time, but you have to do it now. He is already born. The entry of divinity has not yet
happened. When it comes, He will declare it. What we are doing is preparing ourselves, we must be ready before He comes.
When I was born, nobody did anything for me. I had to it all by myself. Shiva could not do anything because he was alone. When Shiva interacts with Shakti, all manifestation came. All my work... homework. I prepared everything for Prema and everything will be ready for him. You see Shiva, when we adore Shiva we give him one night (Shivarathri) but when we adore Devi we give her 9 days (Navarathri. When everything is ready, He will come. Only with your homework can you join the class. Otherwise, we would have total confusion. You should listen to the voice of God in your
mind as thought. When you practise, you have the words – you begin to see, you have video.
Purify your thoughts. Be away from worldly thoughts. Be in Satsang, then you can hear Prema in your heart. He will be the embodiment of Shakti. He will not speak and so you cannot catch the signals. Practise, Shakti is powerful but cannot control Shiva. Pray to Shiva in order to have Shakti. Fill day and night in order to discriminate what is permanent and what is transient. Whatever leads us closer to God is permanent, whatever takes us away from God is ignorance. Do practise and
come back and will solve you all your questions. Very happy.
